The delete command (rm for "remove") permanently deletes files and/or directories from the disk. Use rm -i or rm -ri if you want to be safe, especially with wildcards like *, and the system will prompt you before deleting each file and/or directory.
If you're still concerned about accidental deletions, use the CDE or JDS File Manager and Trashcan to delete all your files. These are like the Microsoft Windows Recycle Bin.
