Manual Pages

Solaris (and UNIX in general) keeps its manual pages online. The man command will show you the manual page ("manpage") for the command you specify:

$ man ls

Also useful are the whatis and man -k commands to search through the manpages for a certain topic:

$ man -k editor

$ whatis vi
